Carp care is many things. It is the use of a unhooking mat, it is the gentle cupping of water across the flanks of a carp waiting to be weighed. It is the avoidance of litter, the practise of dipping nets, it is the monitoring of oxygen levels and algae blooms. It is the protection of carp from pollution, theft and the dinner table.

Above all, it is protection of a lineage that has made original British carp the most revered in the world.

The preciousness of carp and the fragility of the environment cannot be overstated. The importance of the work carried out by the societies in our ‘Carp Care’ listing cannot be overstated too.
